I dont' work for a multinational, but at my big national company, which is divided into three regional offices, we tend ot use the name of the city where the office is located as shorthand for the entire region. So yeah, I do think that type of shorthand is pretty common among big companies. But a lot of readers *don't* work for big companies (insert 'lucky them' snark here) and I know that when new people have come iinto my work, they have been deeply confused by that form of referring to a region. So, in the interests of clarity, it might be better for Lenore to sub in either a country name or a city name.
