2018 Yuletide Dear Author letter

Sorry to take so long to get this letter posted! If you've already started writing, wonderful, perfect, thank you. Please feel free to ignore any suggestions I make. I'm sure I'll love what you're doing!

Because I do have a very broad range of enjoyment when it comes to stories. I like slash (both dudes and ladies), het and gen. I'm into reading explicit sex if you're into writing it, but all ratings are good. I love relationship stories that show the deepening sense of intimacy between two people, whether it's a romance or a friendship. I also adore plotty stories, casefiles, action/adventure, future fic, backstory, and my great love for fan fiction cliches never dies! I appreciate angst in a story, especially if the source material really calls for it, but I also enjoy when a story ends on a hopeful note.

A few things I'm not really into are: non-con, graphic violence, and gore. I'd prefer not to receive a crossover.

Life:
Dani Reese, Charlie Crews

I loved this show so much! I rewatch it regularly and still mourn its premature demise. There were so many good things about this series, but my favorite was the partnership between Crews and Reese. I'm a sucker for relationships in which the two people just get each other in a way that no one else does. The trust, the understanding, the respect, the fact that they're smarter, better, stronger together than they are apart. Please give me more of that! A missing scene. A simple moment when we see their closeness. A case file. Or if you really want to make my day, what happened after Charlie got in that mini van and they got back home? Where did their relationship go from there? Could be romantic. Could be platonic. It's all good!

Pitch:
Ginny Baker, Mike Lawson

I'm a big baseball fan, and if you are too, feel free to geek out! Give me Mike helping Ginny perfect a new pitch. Give me Ginny making fun of Mike for his superstitions but then joining him in observing them. Give me the two of them arguing about the DH or about whether Pete Rose should be allowed into the Hall of Fame. I loved the banter between these two, so if your bent runs toward comedy, excellent! If you'd prefer to explore some of the more dramatic elements of the story, that also sounds great. How does Mike help Ginny deal with the intensity of the spotlight and the fact that there are as many people who want to see her fail as they are people who want her to succeed? How does Ginny help Mike deal with the reality of being an aging catcher and the looming prospect of being too old to do what he loves best? And of course, as I suggested in my request, if you want to tackle how they dealt with that almost-kiss in the final episode, I will be ecstatic!

Dark Places - Gillian Flynn:
Lyle Wirth, Libby Day, Ben Day, Crystal Day

As I mentioned in my request, feel free not to include all the characters. I'm mainly interested in the relationship between Libby and Lyle, but I threw in Ben and Crystal because the end of the book left some interesting questions about the future of the Day family. If you have a vision about what happens with them all as they move forward, I am intrigued! Or if you want to explore a missing scene that adds further insight into the differences and similarities between Libby and Lyle, yes please! Libby and Lyle are both a bit challenged when it comes to being decent people, but by the end of the book, they both seem to want to change. How do they help each other? How do they hinder each other? Or what about a scene of awkward hilarity when Libby goes over to Lyle's house to have dinner with his family for the first time? Or if you enjoy writing casefiles, do Libby and Lyle get caught up in another case? Does solving crimes become their thing? Any story you feel like telling about this unlikely duo will be much loved.
