1. Instead of baseball last night, I rewatched My Beautiful Laundrette with some friends. It was a very nostalgic experience. I first saw the movie in college. There was a theater in the student union that showed indy films for two bucks. I went to see this with my roommates, and then I went back the next night by myself, and when the film started playing at the art house theater in town, I went to see it again. It was my slashy coming of age!

I went looking for fan fic for the movie last night and couldn't find any. There really, really ought to be some.

I loved My Beautiful Laundrette! A supervisor of mine loaned it to me a long time ago and I haven't been able to find it since then. You're right, there should be fanfic-it really should be a better-known film.

Isn't it a great film? I hadn't seen it for years, so I was amazed all over again by the tender-hot chemistry between the two leads. I'm hoping to get it included in Yuletide 08!!

Have you seen The Wedding Banquet, starring Mitchell Lichtenstein? I don't know the names of the other actors, unfortunately. It's a Taiwannese-made film, I believe, and very charming.

I just bought that movie and watched it recently; the two male leads have amazing chemistry and it really is a smart film, I just loved it to pieces.
I couldn't find any fic either which makes me sad.

Okay, at first I was confused, because I have this porny, porny, filthy story idea that I was pretty sure I've never mentioned on LJ, about the young boys these polygamist communities abandon and what easy prey they'd make for an enterprising pimp, and what perversely eager whores they'd become since they already believe they're going to hell simply by virtue of being excommunicated from their polygamist cults. I was like: oh my God, Anita can READ MY MIND!!!
