Some Recs
I'm way behind on sending feedback. So I thought I'd at least rec a few of the things I've liked lately.
There have been so many stories in the last few weeks that have touched on my favorite themes or hit my kinks. And it has made me so happy. :)
The Good Son by
dolimir
Martha as Lex's surrogate mother. It takes all my self-control (yes, I do have some) not to stalk Dolimir until she posts the rest of this WIP. Happily, she says she's almost finished.
Riding the Tiger by
xnitelite
Stories about Lex's childhood. Nite takes Lex's throwaway line in "Precipice" about learning to box and gives us this wonderfully touching look into young Lex's life.
Some Like It Hot by
corinna_5
Futurefic where the boys are still together. Especially stories like Corinna's that make it believable. Lex is as complicated as ever. Being Superman is hard. There's some Lexian misadventure, and a Lois Lane who's tough but not a shrew.
Jailbird by
aelita
Jail stories. (No, I don't have any shame.) Clark in a skirt. Lex to the rescue. Jailhouse sex. Yes, please.
Not to Be by
joyfulgirl41
Other possibilities, other universes. Joyfulgirl tells us five stories that never happened and makes us feel as if they did.
Push by
rosenho
Fixing episode messes. Hope takes that ridiculous Lana-Jennifer-Henry triangle from "Witness" and makes some good, twisted sense of it. Lovely, lyrical writing.
The Six Wives of Lex Luthor by
jacynrebekah
The boys finally get together. Yay! And it's wonderfully funny.
Coercion by
alax
Bad, wrong Clionel. (Because I'm going to hell.) I don't know what it is about Lionel extorting sex from Clark. But it's so damned hot.
Treads & Risers by Chicklet
Public sex. The thrill of the boys getting caught. The erotic zing of them just not being able to wait. Mmm-hmm.
Mountains and Molehills by
fizzabith
Identity issues. And it's hilarious!
Clark smiled. "Ah, so you're not broken. You're just gay." And with relief, Clark Kent took his dick in his hand and began stroking-- "Wait, you're gay? How can you be gay? I'm not gay."
Sparks by
seperis and
rageprufrock
Stories about their friendship. Oh, yeah, and strippers. *g* This got hotter every time I read it.
Ceremony of Innocence by
rivkat
I love the complexity that RivkaT always brings to writing Lex. She makes him both sympathetic and dangerous, and I found this story completely riveting.
The important thing was to be certain about whether he wanted Clark in his bed or in his laboratory, and not to attempt the latter until he'd truly given up on the former.
Shiver.
When a Strawberry is Pushed into a Mountain by
thamiris
Calligraphic sex. Hot poetry talk. A cool plot. It's all so good. I know you guys have already read this, because you're all smart cookies. But I did just want to say how very much I enjoyed it.
Kyoto Song and Distraction by
velvetglove
I loved both of these pieces. Wonderful writing and emotionally compelling.
ETA: Two recs I accidentally left off. (Note to self: Make sure you scroll down next time.)

God no! I'm reading it now, (actually I've been reading it for the past week -- yeah, yeah, I'm a really slow reader! *g*) I love it, in fact I'm going to curl up with it today.

and you-- i-- it-- the-- *points* thanks! *squeees with girlish delight*

That part where Clark tries to explain to his father what the problem is? Just priceless.
that was my favorite part too. :O)

It had this great taut feeling, both the relationships and the action. I loved the sense in the story that Lex and Clark have had to work hard to stay together. That Clark's life as Superman can be overwhelming sometimes and Lex is still a control freak, even if he means well. (Bugging the elevator was a nice touch. *g*)
I very much enjoyed the banter between Lex and Lois. It's great to see a Lois who's tough, but not a shrew. Who's treated as something other than a threat to the Clex that has to be put in her place. And the senior citizens self-defense group made me smile. :)
Thanks for the great read!

Unless, of course, you've been meaning to send me feedback on the first one since September, in which case you are of course dead to me now. Bwahahahaha! (No. Not really!)
. I loved the sense in the story that Lex and Clark have had to work hard to stay together
I think they would have; leaving aside how tough it would have been to come out as a couple in Smallville, because I'm not sure when in the timeline they did come out to other people, their lives are, as Oz once put it, not like other people's, and I think that even more than the normal strains of relationship-having, they'd have a lot to deal with. Not to mention that they broke up in the previous story, and there's still emotional fallout from that being dealt with.
It makes complete sense to me that Lex would still be something of a control freak -- I mean, he probably has to be, at least a little, with his work, and you don't ever fully erase childhood conditioning, as annoying as it may be to have to admit it. And, goddammit, if I had a private elevator up to my penthouse, I'd be tempted to bug it too! Hee.
The senior citizens were something of a surprise to me, and I was happy they worked out so well. And I can't imagine Clark ever having developed any sort of interest or even friendship with a Mean Lois, so I'm glad the character works for you as tough but likeable.
Anyway, thank you again for the kind words and all the distracting reading material!

Thursday? God. That was a long few days. It feels like weeks. Have I ever mentioned how super boring my job can be? *g*

*g* Actually, September was before my SV time. Wow. That seems hard to believe, too. Perception of time is clearly not my strong suit. Anyway, so I didn't realize there was a first story. I'll have to go check it out.
And, hey, that's another bit feedback I can throw in. Your story reads very well as a stand-alone. :)
Re:
I'm really glad the story reads well on its own -- I hoped it would! But the first story may be my personal favorite of my fan writing, flaws and all, so:
The Seven Year Itch (http://www.greenchick.net/corinna/sevenyear.html).
If you angle your computer screen right, you can even read it from the office, to shield against the Superboringness.

I wanted to thank you for the rec *g*
Also, for the great recs. I hadn't read Some Like It Hot or Jailbird and both were wonderful!

I just got finished reading the rest of your story. And I knew Lex couldn't be an evil villian. I knew it!
Thanks for the great read. Lex and his longing for family is so incredibly moving. And to see him become a Kent was wonderfully satisfying. :)

And I'm glad you found the other recs useful. I just felt that I'd read so many good things lately that I had to share. :)
