I believe it's on purpose too. There have just been so many moments (or in some cases complete episodes) where the point is: House + Wilson = Meant To Be!

And the way House LOOKS AT HIM when he says it, that charmed, happy, intrigued, satisfied look. To be followed with Wilson's Did you know I was gonna do that? Yes, he did! That's why he loves you and that's why you're MADE FOR EACH OTHER!!!

I just can't imagine watching this episode and thinking "Those are two really great best friends there!" Riiiiight because House would totally tell Cuddy "You're scared of losing me!"
