Oh my God, oh my God, President Obama!

Okay, so I was as excited as the next person on Inauguration Day. I watched the swearing in with the rest of my company in the conference room, and followed coverage on my computer the rest of the day, and caught some of the Inaugural balls last night. But just now, on Countdown, I saw a picture of Obama sitting at his desk in the Oval Office, on the phone, with his shirtsleeves rolled up. And my heart did this thing in my chest, and I suddenly had tears in my eyes, because it's really real: PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!

YAY!!!!

Also, as an aside, I love how much Barack and Michelle love each other. It is so beautiful.

I keep tearing up - we have all done an amazing thing. And have you been following the news? He's been busy today!

I was just catching up on the news watching Countdown. I saw that he signed an executive order to close Guantanamo! I can't even begin to say how relieved and happy I am that President Obama is sitting at the desk in the Oval Office now.

And this, from Daily Kos:

In the Executive Order on Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Personnel, the President, first, prohibits executive branch employees from accepting gifts from lobbyists. Second, he closes the revolving door that allows government officials to move to and from private sector jobs in ways that give that sector undue influence over government. Third, he requires that government hiring be based upon qualifications, competence and experience, not political connections.

The Global War on Competency is finally over!

We're going to have an administration that actually thinks it's a good thing to be SMART!

Real love, baby. When was the last time you saw that?

Here, I share my favorite inaugural photo (http://community.livejournal.com/obama_daily/179153.html). The rest aren't too bad either.

I don't know if I've ever seen two people that obviously in love before. I feel honored to be allowed to witness it.

Thanks for the link. Those photos are wonderful! The first one is my favorite. The looks on their faces! Oh my God. That's our president and first lady!!!! It makes me so happy!!!

Yes, that. That's exactly how I feel about it. If you get a chance, or are so inclined I'd look through the photos on [livejournal.com profile] obama_daily or join. It makes my days much better. Also? I was telling [livejournal.com profile] antheia that the problem with this photo (http://community.livejournal.com/lolobama/156708.html) is that it makes me believe in fairy tales again and I am too old for that malarky.

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thanks! I didn't know about [livejournal.com profile] obama_daily. I'm off to join.

...the problem with this photo is that it makes me believe in fairy tales again and I am too old for that malarky.

Me too, me too! But how can you look at that photo and not believe? It's just not possible!

[livejournal.com profile] obama_daily has been my daily dose of awesome through many long months. I swear I thought Dubya was never going to leave. And yeah, Michelle and Barack coud make you believe in anything. The moon's made out of green cheese? Really? Okay!

You! *points accusingly* Have been hold out on me!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Me, what? I am innocent like -- okay, I can't even type that out -- what am I accused of withholding this time?

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
That you are the awesome lady that posts all the Obamatastic picture posts!!!

I wish I could spend my days looking through myriad photos of President Hotass and posting them. I really really do.

Do you have an outfit you wear whilst being awesome as your sekrit identity?

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hahahah. Excellent choice!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
It's very hot working with these photos all day.

Yes. The President makes me warm too.

Barack and Michelle are lovely. God, how long has it been since we've had a First Couple who looked like they like each other, much less love each other?

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's so true. I mean, I vaguely remember that the Carters seemed to like each other pretty well. But the Obamas...well, they make me think: I wish I had what they have.

I will totally admit, I teared up a little bit while watching them dance at the Youth Ball. And then he said 'old skool' and I might have fallen a little bit in love. *laughs* Man, it is SO good to have a President and First Lady that treats Gen X and Y with respect.

So true! I watched the Youth Ball, too. And I also had tears in my eyes. Oh, who am I kidding? I got tears in my eyes yesterday when I went to whitehouse.gov and saw how it had been revamped. I feel like we finally have a government that's in tune with us. And it's a very, very good feeling.

I KNOW.

Also, is that icon snaggable?

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, it's so exciting!

Re: icon. Totally snaggable. I got it from an icon sharing community. Enjoy!

wow! after reading this, I've been looking around, but I can't find the photo you're talking of. could you perhaps give me a link or something? :)

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It was on Countdown with Keith Olbermann last night. If you go to the web site, you can watch the clip. It's #4, "Obama sets his priorities." Here's the direct link:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#28780942

Rewatching it, I realized he doesn't actually have his shirtsleeves rolled up. He just gives that impression, of being hard at work. :)

thank you very much!

he truly looks presidential behind that desk! (or anywhere, actually!)
