2. Comment and let me know which one(s) you choose. This is mostly a matter of curiosity on my part. It's fine if people want to do the same song. No pressure! No commitment! It's all about the fun!

3. Write a story, any story, any fandom, any length, or make a manip or a vid, any anything you want that somehow relates to your song.

4. Post it to your LJ and link to the entry I'll make on Tuesday, June 20th (my birthday!).

Think of the possibilities, my friends! The SGA story "Land of 1,000 Dances" (#85), the SV story "Cherry, Cherry" (#75), all the SPN "ghost shoe" fun you could have with "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" (#13). Come play (and feel free to pimp)! It will make me so, so happy. :)

Oooh, nice one! I'm picking #6 Last Train to Clarksville by the Monkees because even if I'm only going to be 24 this September, I had a longish "Yay! Monkees!" phase a while back. And of course I'd love a SPN fic about it because uhm, I've never seen SGA. Or SV. :D Hee.

Well, I'm not on your flist I think so feel free to ignore that. But anyway. Here I go. :D

Why do these song titiles make me want to write really cracked out clichefic?

I'm a little disturbed how many of these songs I know/own/love given that they're a WEE bit before my time (1973! \o/). Gods, what a great challenge. I want to write fics for them all.

I want to do California Dreaming (SGA) and Homeward Bound (SPN).

*glee* Excellent plan. The last time I did one of your challenges I kicked ass (if I do say so myself). Also? I'll be 39 tomorrow. Woot!

K and I are taking:
53 - Secret Agent Man
54 - Sounds of Silence

*bounce*

Apparently, 1966 was a really cracked out year! I mean, "The Ballad of the Green Berets" by Sgt. Barry Sadler was the #1 song.

?????????????

Anyhoo, I completely encourage your impulse to write cracked out clichefic! *g*

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, yay, yay!

*gets all excited*

I have to figure out what I'm going to write. *ponders*

Hooray! I love writing things for people's birthday-fests!

May I take the following?

16. We Can Work It Out, The Beatles

And maybe buy you a drink to celebrate sometime soon? :)

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are great songs! In fact, I really have the urge to listen to "California Dreaming" right NOW. *g*

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy birthday! Geminis rule! :)

I love those songs. Have fun with them!

I'm going to be 40 in, oh, about three weeks.

Seriously? Wow! I always think of you as 27! Happy birthday for three weeks from now!

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thank you for taking part.

And whee! I'd love to go out for a drink. :)

I want #7, Reach Out and I'll Be There, by the Four Tops. I'm a '67 baby, myself, so we share a lot of artists in common ;)

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the b-day wishes! And, hey, I'll take 27! :)

Happy almost-birthday!

I am willing to very tentatively commit to a Veronica Mars story based on "Rainy Day Women #12 And 35."

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for people born in the years of Flower Power! :)

And thanks for playing!

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the b-day wishes, doll!

Absolutely no commitment necessary, but that VM story does sound cool!

[identity profile] dawnybee.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a genius! It's a terrific challange for a terrific reason, my fellow Gemini.

[identity profile] aelora.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, hell. First I'm going to have to find the mp3 of These Boots are Made for Walking. And then I'm going to have to figure out how I could possibly get a vid done by the 20th...

And hey! You share the same b-day as JT of Duran Duran! *bounces*

OH hell, I must be freaking insane, but since I know every fucking one of these songs (yes, I'm almost 50) and groove on them, I'll play.

Summer in the City by the Loving Spoonfuls has always been and still is one of my favorite summer vacation songs. And i don't seem capable of writing anything other than SPN these days.

Happy Birthday!!
Meg

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for us Geminis! :)

And yay for enticing people to write stories and make fan art for my birthday a summer song challenge. *bg*

[identity profile] sanyin.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Newbie to your journal (came for your amazing SPN stuff), but this challenge ROCKS. I'm a child of the late 80s, and I appreciate my current hiphop, alternative, punk etc. (and I shamefully did go through the requisite boyband phase when I was twelve), but my main musical interests are firmly planted right around this time. Ah, the good days of Dylan, before he slid slowly into crap after Blood on the Tracks.

Ok, Winchester Cathedral would be too easy/obvious, right?

I'm torn between being a loyal Bostonian with Dirty Water or going Fab Four with Nowhere Man. Both could work really well for SPN.

Hmmm.

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
SQUEEEEEEEEEE! Oh, you make me so happy, Aelora. *bounces*

Me and JT, baby! Me and JT! :)

Do you have the mp3s of any of these? There are couple that could be REAL fun!

And happy early Birthday...I did 40 last year and you're handling it much better than I did. I wanted to cry.
