It was just announced that [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy won the LJ election. Yay for the voting power of fangirls!
scribblinlenore: (General: Secret Smiling Girl)
[livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn had a brilliant idea (as she is wont to do!) about how to try to wield our fannish power on LJ by voting as a block in the LJ election. You can read about her plan here. Frankly, I was completely clueless about who to vote for, but I did want to vote, because I think it's important. Joining [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes seems like a good way to find out about the candidates and do what we can to install someone sympathetic to fandom on the advisory committee.

Go check it out and see what you think! And help spread the word, if you're so inclined.

Thank you!

To whoever nominated my stories 101 Ways To Get Lucky (In Love) and Only Grumpier and With Darker Hair for the McShep Awards. I'm so flattered!

In other news, the pairings that are interesting me most from the new shows this season are all het couples. I LOVE Chuck/Blair on Gossip Girl with that Dangerous Liaisons Lite thing they've got going on. And I'm also into Charlie/Constance on Life and am sad that everyone else seems to be into Charlie/Dani, because I'd really love to read some fic. Not that I don't enjoy Charlie and Dani's relationship, but I prefer it as partners rather than lovers. And then, *shamefaced*, sometimes when I'm watching Dirty, Sexy Money, and I see the twins, well...*shamefaced*

Yeah. So. Het. Who would have thought it? *g*

P.S. I totally forgot about Pushing Daisies! I love me some Ned/Chuck, maybe with intermediary Olive. Yum!

SummerCon!

If you haven't had the chance, check out the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] summercon multi-fandom extravaganza, the brainchild of the lovely and almost frighteningly energetic [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn. There are many activities, including the bad manip challenge that makes me laugh every time I think about it. :)

Today is SummerCon zine day. A few months back, Madelyn asked a bunch of writers if they'd contribute something, and she was very, very cloak and dagger about what it was for. And now it's finally unveiled! You can read all the many fabulous stories here:

SummerCon Zine

I wrote a John/Rodney SGA story, a PG little summery thing. Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] barely_bean for the inspiration and beta reading. If you want to check it out, it's here:

This is something that comes up every now and then for me personally, and now it's come up for fandom in general since it's summer and these issues always crop up when there's nothing to watch on the TeeVee.

I'm going to be 40 in, oh, about three weeks. I'm feeling good about it. More than that, actually. I'm feeling self-indulgent. *g* So I'm issuing a story challenge. Because I CAN.

Lenore's Utterly Egocentric Multifandom Summer of Love Challenge

1. Peruse this list of the Top 100 Songs of 1966 (the year I was born!).

Top 100 Songs of 1966 )

2. Comment and let me know which one(s) you choose. This is mostly a matter of curiosity on my part. It's fine if people want to do the same song. No pressure! No commitment! It's all about the fun!

3. Write a story, any story, any fandom, any length, or make a manip or a vid, any anything you want that somehow relates to your song.

4. Post it to your LJ and link to the entry I'll make on Tuesday, June 20th (my birthday!).

Think of the possibilities, my friends! The SGA story "Land of 1,000 Dances" (#85), the SV story "Cherry, Cherry" (#75), all the SPN "ghost shoe" fun you could have with "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" (#13). Come play (and feel free to pimp)! It will make me so, so happy. :)

Big thanks to everyone who participated in the Pucker Up: Multifandom Mini Challenge! Late entries are completely welcome. If you posted something for the challenge and didn't comment with the link to it, please do. And yay for kissing! :)

Today's the day! Here's a reminder of the super simple rules:

Any fandom, any characters, or original fiction.
Post your scene to your own LJ.
Post a link to your scene here.

Please add your link in the comments with this mini template:

I'll make a master list for everyone's handy reference. Thanks for playing! And remember you still have all day to write that kiss. :)

I would very much like to read Supernatural fic. And from my subject line, I think you know what I mean. *g* I have already eaten up [livejournal.com profile] slodwick's story with a spoon. Does anyone have links? Does anyone want to write me some?

Pretty please?

Happy New Year, everyone!

I spent a nice evening last night with my mom and got back to New York today. It's hard to believe my vacation is almost over! I had a nice time with the family. I ate more than should be humanly possible. And I even made one slashy discovery.

Oceans Eleven.

I'd never seen it before. My brother is a fan of the original movie, so we watched the remake when it was on network TV. At the end…Read more... )

I got back home to discover I'd gotten a postcard from my college boyfriend whom I haven't spoken with in, like, fifteen years. The postcard is of the area where my family lives. All it said was happy holidays, and was signed from him, his wife and kids, whom I've never met. Actually I didn't even know he was married or had children. We didn't exactly end on the best of terms, and that's why we haven't kept in touch. So I'm really wondering. What is with this postcard?

I love to make year-end lists. Actually, I love to make lists period. So I did a year-end fandom wrap up. It was a fun year!
