2. Comment and let me know which one(s) you choose. This is mostly a matter of curiosity on my part. It's fine if people want to do the same song. No pressure! No commitment! It's all about the fun!

3. Write a story, any story, any fandom, any length, or make a manip or a vid, any anything you want that somehow relates to your song.

4. Post it to your LJ and link to the entry I'll make on Tuesday, June 20th (my birthday!).

Think of the possibilities, my friends! The SGA story "Land of 1,000 Dances" (#85), the SV story "Cherry, Cherry" (#75), all the SPN "ghost shoe" fun you could have with "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" (#13). Come play (and feel free to pimp)! It will make me so, so happy. :)

Oooh, nice one! I'm picking #6 Last Train to Clarksville by the Monkees because even if I'm only going to be 24 this September, I had a longish "Yay! Monkees!" phase a while back. And of course I'd love a SPN fic about it because uhm, I've never seen SGA. Or SV. :D Hee.

Well, I'm not on your flist I think so feel free to ignore that. But anyway. Here I go. :D

Date: 2006-05-31 06:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com
Apparently, 1966 was a really cracked out year! I mean, "The Ballad of the Green Berets" by Sgt. Barry Sadler was the #1 song.

?????????????

Anyhoo, I completely encourage your impulse to write cracked out clichefic! *g*

I'm a little disturbed how many of these songs I know/own/love given that they're a WEE bit before my time (1973! \o/). Gods, what a great challenge. I want to write fics for them all.

I want to do California Dreaming (SGA) and Homeward Bound (SPN).

OH hell, I must be freaking insane, but since I know every fucking one of these songs (yes, I'm almost 50) and groove on them, I'll play.

Summer in the City by the Loving Spoonfuls has always been and still is one of my favorite summer vacation songs. And i don't seem capable of writing anything other than SPN these days.

Happy Birthday!!
Meg

Newbie to your journal (came for your amazing SPN stuff), but this challenge ROCKS. I'm a child of the late 80s, and I appreciate my current hiphop, alternative, punk etc. (and I shamefully did go through the requisite boyband phase when I was twelve), but my main musical interests are firmly planted right around this time. Ah, the good days of Dylan, before he slid slowly into crap after Blood on the Tracks.

Ok, Winchester Cathedral would be too easy/obvious, right?

I'm torn between being a loyal Bostonian with Dirty Water or going Fab Four with Nowhere Man. Both could work really well for SPN.

Hmmm.

Your challenges are always so fun because they're also so informal. ::teehee::

So, what I want to do is use about 10 of these titles to do a series of interconnected drabbles, a little over 100 words each? Does that make sense? I am not sure which ones I want to use yet, but since we're all sharing...

In other words, I'm totally in. Yup! :)
