Well, that's better than the scenarios I was coming up with in my head where a criminal that Hotch put away kills Hotch's wife and child out of revenge. I don't like imagining the demise of even a fictional family... But then Spencer wouldn't be his dirty little secret. Of course there's always throwing canon out the window. Or jumping the timeline into the future--like after Hotch gets a divorce.
