In all seriousness, every multinational I've worked with (and how sad is it that I can say that, eh?) divides itself up into geographic regions, and divisions will have head offices in that region. So there might weill be a "LexCorp Europe" office.
At my last full-time job, there was a web team based in Vienna that handled "EMEA" -- "Europe, the Middle East, and Africa." If there was a specific problem with a UK site, I would call, say, Simon in London, but if there was a more general change to be made, I'd e-mail Alexander in Vienna, who'd get the change out to all of EMEA.
Also, Lenore? I love this story in all of its cliched glory. More! More!
