So some stupid whore on fanfiction.net plagiarized word-for-damned-word my story 101 Ways To Get Lucky (In Love).

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3383303/1/101_Ways_To_Get_Lucky

She turned it into One Tree Hill (blech!) and het, which is so NOT the point of the story. MY TWO DADS, you stupid bitch. God, she didn't even change the title. I repeat: stupid whore.

Yes, I'm a little angry. It's not the first time I've been plagiarized, but this is probably my favorite fan story I've ever written, so it makes me even more furious than I otherwise would have been. To make matters worse, the only way I can contact her is either through a review or private messaging. I actually signed up for stupid drivel.net just now, so I could lambaste her. But they don't let you send messages for 24 hours after you sign up. I did report her to the abuse team over there, and I left a "you're busted" review. If you guys wanted to go jeer at her, I wouldn't be averse to that.

Also, she stole other people's work, "Unidentified" by [livejournal.com profile] fiercelydreamed for one. I'm sure there are others. I didn't specifically recognize anything, but you all might.

I would never have known this happened if someone hadn't left a comment letting me know. That person is my hero. The person who stole my story is, I'll say it one more time, A STUPID WHORE!!!

ETA: I forgot the best part of the whole thing. Her author's note! She talks about how she got this crazy idea for this really out-of-left-field AU. And she thanks her beta reader, Carly, whom she named the daughter for. She's not just a plagiarist. She's freakin' delusional!

Summary: AU in every conceivable manner that a story can be. Basically, throw everything you know about the show and its characters out, slam the door and swallow the spare key. Lucas Scott is smart, gorgeous, arrogant and on the brink of becoming head honcho of the business world. Except he realizes that he’s lacking the one crucial aspect that could topple all of his high hopes and lofty ambitions—a proper wife and family. And so in desperate need for a solution, he seeks it from single mom and author of the best-selling dating self-guide book, ‘101 Ways to Get Lucky (In Love)’, Brooke Davis. The story is pretty self-explanatory from here.

Author’s Note: This story will get updated and will turn into a running series of chapters and will evolve into a BrookeLucas story. I’m not exactly known for my consistency with stories but I can’t say I’ve ever been as excited about an idea as I am for this one so hopefully updates should be following promptly. I’ve also got the basic plan of how I want it all to play out already figured out so it should be a lot easier for me to stick to this one.

Also, I have to thank my beta and science consultant, Carly (after whom Brooke’s daughter is named). She pwns on so many levels, it’s astronomical.

Thanks and hope you enjoyed,

Katie

I hate her SO.

So far we've recognized at least two other stories at a glance.

*hugs* I am SO SORRY. And SO MAD at her.

I cannot believe the utter evil and stupidity of this person. It's just... Clearly she needs to have her head bashed on something hard. It obviously couldn't have any detrimental effects on her IQ. *sigh*

That is seriously gross and wrong. I do not understand why people do that or think they can get away with it. Just. Gah!

I've left a 'review' - urgh, that just... It boggles me that someone would even *think* of doing that.

Thank you, doll. I appreciate the hugs. I will never understand why people do this. I made the mistake of reading through the reviews and all the praise she got for MY STORY really made my blood pressure go up.

I screencapped all her stories, so if she takes them down and someone needs to check through and see what she's stolen (for identifying purposes), you can send 'em to me.

THIS SUCKS. I'm going to leave a nasty review, too. Grrrr!

As if it's not bad enough that she stole your story and changed the show, she says in her author's note: throw out everything you know about the show. Well, duh, since it's written for a completely different one! Honestly, if you're going to plagiarise, at least plagiarise in a way that makes sense!

Also, it's kind of worrying that one of her in progress stories is also someone else's (unless she's coincidentally picked the same title). What can there be to do on it - someone else already wrote it!

Also, have you read her profile info? It's *delusional*

I write. Mostly One Tree Hill. I do try to venture out of that pool from time to time but, I don't really think I've mastered the characterizations for other shows as well as I have One Tree Hill. And I'm someone who likes to play by her strengths. I got into fan fiction for the fact that I am simply in love with writing not for the fact of who I'm writing. For instance, if I'm feeling particularly peppy or lively or cheeky, I'm writing me some Brucas. If my mood takes a heavy, deep, or gloomy turn then I'll most probably pop out with some standard Leyton. If an ungodly sense of cutesy, mushy, gushy love takes over me, then Naley it shall be! If I come up with an AU concept then I'll write the way I want the main characters to behave/become and mix and match with the characters on the show that seem to work best with that particular scenario. If the situation in the story warrants it or if it's needed to progress the story line, I will clown/dump on any character that I choose and feel no shame for it. Finally, If I'm writing UC couples then I can do whatever the hell I want and no one can say a damn word because, with most of them, I'm creating the relationship out of thin air. What I'm trying to say is that my writing preference over-rules my coupling preference--not the other way around. I just love writing too much to limit myself to a single coupling characterization arena where there are only so many options that I can explore.

Honestly, if I could write for other characters/shows as confidently and comfortably as I do One Tree Hill then I would pull the trigger on that fandom (as far as writing goes) in less time than it would take someone to go from the words "don't" and "shoot." I don't hate or dislike One Tree Hill by any means--I love One Tree Hill--but, let's not blow the proverbial smoke up each other's asses, there are dozens of shows out there with much richer story lines and interesting characters than One Tree Hill. Just admit it.

So...she's writing plagiarized stories for this fandom she hates, *why*? Oh, that's right, because John and Rodney are JUST LIKE Lucas and Brooke! The resemblance is almost eerie!

She also wants us all to know that her writing skills are remarkable given that English is her *third* language, and that her favorite writer is Proust.

Well, *I'm* impressed!

I am constantly amazed by people like her. How do they think that nobody will find them out? I love this story so very much, and it's infuriating to see her getting credit for it. I'm so sorry, sweetie. I've also left her a review letting her know what I think of her.

Heh. Thank you. [livejournal.com profile] slodwick made it because a)CMM is gross and b)she is awesome. Plus, it's just good advice. I guess we need to make one that says "Just say no to COPYING MY AWESOME STORY AND MURDERING JOHN AND RODNEY WITH YOUR HORRID NEED TO FIND-AND-REPLACE THEM WITH RIDICULOUSLY CHEESY CHARACTERS THAT ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND ALSO VERY VERY DUMB!!"

Although, I am not sure all of that would fit in 100x100. Maybe a nice animated one? ;)
