Yay Yuletide!

I've been mulling over the possibilities, and I finally decided to go with three movies and three books: Heathers, LA Confidential, My Beautiful Laundrette, Woman On The Edge Of Time by Marge Piercy, the Melusine series by Sarah Monette, A Companion To Wolves by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear

Although I had to leave Life On Mars, Mad Men and Fringe off the list, so...hmm. I'm not sure this is final. *g*

My Beautiful Laundrette is one of my favorite movies ever! I watched it a few months ago with some NYC fangirls, and we all agreed that it totally needed to be part of Yuletide. And I really, really want some Felix/Mildmay, because...well, you know, I'm me. *g*

I do want to write Mad Men! And yes, yes, yes, this season has been totally awesome. I wondered at the beginning if they'd be able to keep up the momentum they had last season, but they've totally gone beyond all my expectations. I really can't wait to see where this most recent story line with Don goes, and all the stuff they're doing with Betty. And the priest and Peggy. And, oh my God, Joan! That was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen on TV. I can't wait for this week's episode.

I agree with everything you said. Everytime I think, oh my god, they're not going to do there are they? They go there. And the Joan thing upset me so badly I couldn't even speak. Clearly this is Matt's way of pointing out, when you get what you think you want, it's really not what you want at all. I knew things were suspect when the doctor was all, you don't need to work, and Joan's like, but I want to, and then when she wanted to be on top and he was all no, not having it, but that scene, just completely broke me. I totally had a 'Sons of Anarchy moment (have you watched that?) where I wanted him to get his head blown off. I totally undestand where Joan's come from, she's been waiting and holding out for the guy who she thinks is ideal, who she thinks will give her the life she is supposed to have, and then it turns out, that it's not ideal at all.

*crosses fingers too* I really hope it is! I wasn't sure how I felt about the show after the first couple of episodes, but I've kept watching it, and it's totally grown on me. I'd love to read some fic!

Er. Presuming you mean the UK one. I think the US one would be eligible.

Oh, that's too bad about Life On Mars. The fandom isn't really that big. And yes, I do mean the UK version. *shudders at the thought of the US one*
