I do need some Cobra! I really enjoyed all the stuff I listened to on their My Space page. I don't know what I listened to before that made me think I didn't like their music. Maybe I got them confused with some other band. I listened to a whole bunch of bandom bands in one go. I really don't know! It's a mystery!

I, like, never expect to like their music, and then it pops up on my playlist (I'm slowly going through the enormous music dumps two of my friends left me before moving to forn parts) and I'm all, oooh, I like this...IT'S THE FREAKY SNAKE PEOPLE AGAIN. Anyway, so we just got the first mix of one of our new songs. We always referred to it as Smash it Up, because the chorus goes .... ... smash it up.... But then, one of the shelf kids said we should name our album "Pete Wentz is the only reason we're famous." And we said "Fuck you kid! We're also famous because of Patrick Stump." But we did like how that title rolled off our tongues. So we decided to name this song that. Because it talks about our cocks. See youon tour!

Cobra are my favorite bandom boys (and girl) -- seriously, I adore Gabe Saporta so fucking much. And it is important you be properly educated on him, because bandom always wants to make him the creepy stereotypical villain and it is just not TRUE, Lenore. He is sweet and goofy and kind and he loves puppies and his girlfriend and he stands out in the FREAKING COLD so that all of his fans can meet him and he is so, so grateful for all of his band's success and oh, oh I love Gabe Saporta so much. And in a perfect world people would write more Patrick/Gabe because they are like, my secondary OTP.

Also, Patrick is essentially the sixth member of Cobra Starship and so he's on every single song on "Viva La Cobra" with the exception of one (Pleasure Ryland). I recommend "Smile For the Paparazzi," because while I do not think we are sure, it is fairly likely that it's actually Patrick making the sex noises during the chorus.

Okay, Gabe and Patrick are both ADORABLE in that video. And man, Patrick is a TOTAL studio dom. I can see why he and Pete always fight when they're making a new record.

Gabe is much cuter than I remembered. But then, the only picture I can remember seeing of him is the one where he's doing the tongue thing with Pete, which even though I'm all for boy kissing I frankly find rather gross.

Also, I've never seen any pictures of Vicky T before, and she's really cute and adorable. All the stories I've ever read that mention her make her sound like a shrew, so I totally pictured her differently. She seems really cool and not like a shrew at all! Bandom is so weird about girls.

I listened to "Viva La Cobra" on the way to work today and enjoyed it very much. But I forgot to listen for Patrick's sex noises. I must go back and listen again (a lot)!

Ahem. I also feel really strongly about how unfair it is that he gets cast as the villain because seriously, so sweet. This last tour before they finally gave up and got a fanclub, he was literally out in the freezing rain and cold sometimes making sure every single fan that lined up (basically the entire crowd, most nights) got to meet him. He was completely overwhelmed and it was such a stupid idea but he did it anyway, even as sick as he was getting with his vocal chords and everything, and I just cannot handle that. It's too sweet. He's a big goober. His stage persona is deliberately creepy as hell though: one of my favorite parts of the "Really Really Good Looking" tour was right before "Church of Hot Addiction," they play organ music and he has everyone put their hands up to "take the cobra." He plays the creepy role so well, but he might actually be the sweetest of the band boys. So I get all :( :( :( when he's flattened into his stage persona. Particularly since, again, he and Patrick = OTP of amazingness (and height difference!).

Bandom is super-weird about girls -- and I think Vicky-T gets the short end a lot because unlike a lot of the other girls she's definitely a little rougher, a little snarkier. I hesitate to say "more masculine," but she definitely has that "I can hold my own" quality to her. She also tends to get cited in the kinds of band rumors that are more generally confined to the guys of the bands - inter-band hook-ups, for instance. Bandom's got some weird ideas of what girls should and should not do, honestly. But Vicky-T is awesome -- and Patrick likes her a lot! Also, she feedbacks fanfic on occasion, hahaha.

And oh, man, speaking of Patrick and his studio doming, have you ever read the interview where Travis talks about how whipped he is by Patrick when they're recording? Like, Travis is going on about the ability of auto-tune and saying he'll miss a note and say "we can just fix it" and Patrick will start yelling at him to "be a man and hit the fucking note." It was really, really funny. I love watching videos of him in the studio because he's just so tiny compared to these guys he's working with (Gabe, Travis) but he completely dominates them. And Pete and Patrick's studio antics are one of the things that first sucked me into this fandom: I find relationships that are super-close but full of fighting unbelievably hot, and Pete's compared the fighting/physical aspect of their musical creation to sex before, at which point I was just a gonner.
