I just went through my friends list and took off some people who never friended me back. If you're one of them, and you did actually want to be on my friends list, but just never friended me back. Email me at scribblinlenore@livejournal.com and let me know.

This is FYI. I don't feel comfortable having people on my friends list who don't friend me back. If you ask me to friend you, and I do, and you never add me back, I will eventually end up taking you off. Hey, what can I say? I guess I have some insecurities. But I just like these things to be a two-way street.

I think your friending policy is the closest to mine I've ever seen on LJ (with the whole two way street thing).

I think it's a good policy! We're very smart to have adopted it. *g*

What's up with that?

I don't get why person would ask someone to friend them, then never do it back to them when they do. *...shrugs*

I know! Although there are some cases where I suspect the person just doesn't get how LJ works, and I'm not quite as irritated. But others have LJs friended, just not mine, and I *dont* get that. Maybe they have their reasons, but it seems so rude!

I decided a while ago on the two-way street thing as well (except for two exceptions of people who post solely fannish stuff and are almost like a RSS feed). I just tend to feel uncomfortable with non-reciprocal LJ relationships.

To me, it just makes sense. I don't cultivate unreciprocal relationships in real life. Why would I do it here?

You know, I feel the same way. Unless someone writes a fiction only journal, then I don't feel like I need to be friended back.

I agree. A fiction only journal is kind of like a newspaper. You know it's going to be a one-way street. But most journals are a conversation, and I don't want to be doing all the listening.

i know........its almost been a year since i joined lj...........and i am embarrassed to say i still have not learned the ins and outs of lj.....i usually just log on and read clex stories.....anyway how does one friend back?
From: [identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com
Not to worry. I did go through and look at the user info of the people who hadn't friended me back, and I could tell in a few cases that it was probably because the person just hadn't figured out how to use LJ yet.

Friending is simple. Let's say you want to friend me. Go to my user info page. You can reach it by clicking on that link in my LJ. Or you can type my LJ name into LJ's search function. When you see my user info page, there's a little menu bar just above my LJ name, with four buttons. The one on the far left has an icon of a person with a plus sign. That's the button you use to add people. Click it, and you'll get a message asking if you want to add this journal to your friends list. Just hit the button. And that's it.

If you add all the journals where you like to read stories, then when you log into your own journal, you can flick on the "friends" link, and you'll see all the most recent entries from those journals displayed on one page.

Let me know if you have any problems. :)

Hi. You sound like a very friendly person. I'm new to live journal and am working my way through it. Hell, I'm new to the internet as an interactive community. I've worked my way through so many stories, I tracked so many links, I eventually found my way to live journal. I think it is fantastic. However I am just learning, and enjoying the learning prossess. You are spot on with your observations. I have learned how to friend, but am unclear on how to friend back. So I have friended you and hope you friend back.

Hi! Thanks for friending me. I friended you back. And I totally understand how confusing LJ can be at first. When I first started, it took me a while to even realize there was such a thing as a friends list. *g*

Welcome to LJ!

I don't know if I was on your flist, but I've been meaning to add you to mine for a while now--and was just reminded of this incidentally by someone who recced your stories. You don't actually have to friend me back. No worries either way. :)

(The rec is from [livejournal.com profile] ingrid_m and found here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sherrold/52883.html), btw.)

Hi, Anna! You know, I always see your name on my friends list and have been meaning to add you for a while now, as well. I have always loved your Sentinel stories. :)

hi scribblinlenore, i've just friended you and i hope you'll friend me back. my livejournal is opened to you but you'll find soon that i don't update often. the main purpose of this journal is to be able to read the fics and all the meta created by the smallville canon and fanon. if i feel confident enough in my spelling and my ability to be articulate maybe i'll write sometime. i'm a fairly decent person and i can assure you that i'm not dangerous to know. if you have questions i'll be glad to answer them.
