I never thought I'd do recs, because there are so many people already doing them, so much better than I'm likely to manage it.

But I've read so many good stories lately that I just felt the need to publicly praise them.

I'll Be Gone by jacynrebekah
Short and deceptively simple, it left an ache in my chest. Lex and Clark make each other the men that they are, and true love is a beautiful thing, through both joy and sadness.

Rainbow by dammitcarl
I can't write children convincingly, so I have a special admiration for people who do. I love Jessica's Nicky verse, and this story in particular. Because it shows so movingly how very different a father Lex is than his own. And what pride really means.

A Life More Ordinary by seperis
There's nothing better than a story that shows the small, intimate, everyday details of Lex and Clark's friendship. And how that friendship eventually becomes a shared life together. Jenn makes me fall in love with the boys all over again!

A Sort of Walking Miracle by rivkat
Nobody writes Lex's relationship with Martha quite like RivkaT. Here, she takes that cheesy ship-heals-mom moment in "Fever" and gives it true resonance by considering the consequences. A wonderfully original plot idea, that also has so much to say about the characters, especially Lex.

The Apple of his Mother's Eye by xnitelite
I keep bugging XNiteLite to write (me) more of her wonderfully intriguing take on the Brothers Luthor. What it means to be family. Mom issues. And all that tricky, subterranean desire. Mmm.

Personal Call by shellah
Shelley's story is so hot I had trouble focusing when I was trying to send her feedback. Clark in his dorm room. Lex behind his desk. Passion, baby.

Coincidence by bexless
I really hoped Bexless would write more of her AU drabble, and she did! Yay! Clark and Lex as college roommates. It's a WIP, and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Lex gets Clark into. And what uncoincidental things Lionel is up to behind the scenes.

Blindfold by spyhop
Spyhop is spoiling us rotten with her wonderful writing and insight into the characters. And now there's suspense, too! And a blindfolded Lex. What more do you really need to know?
