That should be every doctor's mantra. I watched my sister give birth to her second baby on valentines day this year and wow do those things really just fly out of there. It's all just as hideously horrifying as you'd imagine...but fun to watch:)
Rodney missed entirely the backward glance when Dr. Kavanagh went off to help Dr. Zelenka during the Wraith attack, the forlorn resignation of a man who might never see his child born.
Ok, this sentence just totally spun my view of where you were going with that second section. You read about arrogant/dickhead Kavanaugh so often that it's become so unexpected to read anything else. This was such an honest and sympathetic look at the situation that he was in. He probably wanted that baby to be his just as much as John did.
I hate babies but I've loved these stories, I'm glad you've got at least another one planned:)
