--Sylar raised the interest value of the twins' storyline to the millioneth power.
--And yet. If this became the M3 and Petrelli show? I would DIE and go to HEAVEN. Seriously. The beard is gone. Nathan and his mother have a moment. Nathan and his boys have a moment. The boys hate the beard like sensible people everywhere! Nathan is mooning over photographs of his
--Matt loses major Father of the Year points for that "maybe what Molly needs is to confront her fears" crap. Perhaps that's a good tact to take if you're kid is having nightmares about, oh, let's say, pasta in squiggly shapes. Oh, the horror! But if she's afraid of a bad man with super powers who can get inside her head and knows where you live? Turning away from your fears is actually a really good strategy!
--Last episode, I kept expecting Matt and Mohinder to kiss. This episode, I felt the angry sex was about to break out at any moment. Oh, show! How you love us.
--Nathan and Matt working together = for the win!
--Oh, and speaking of Nathan, can he always be wearing that gray suit/black shirt combo? He can? Thank you!!!!
--Speaking of Matt, oh my God, what's up with his father? And the fact that all these heroes from the older generation have children with powers makes me wonder if the powers are naturally occurring, or if the parents did something to cause them. I mean, just because a parent has a genetic trait doesn't mean ALL their children are going to inherit it.
--Thank God poor Micah has finally been liberated from the lame-ass plot that revolves around Nikki and has gone on to something much more interesting with the new girl. She's so cool! And her power rocks. And grandma Uhura! I wasn't sure how I felt about the tragedy of New Orleans being just so much window dressing on the plot. It seems kind of insensitive to me.
--Claire and West brought back visions of Lana and Clark, which I SO did not thank them for.
Mentions of the trailer for next week ahead. Stop reading now if you don't want to know!
I like Kristen Bell, but if that preview is any indication, she's going to be playing Veronica with powers.

Date: 2007-10-16 02:56 am (UTC)Really, the people in New Orleans love it when TV shows highlight their plight. Otherwise, the American people seem to forget they exist.
New Girl is fabulous and so is her power. Man, to be able to look at something and learn it instantly is amazing, and she's just the sort of person who will use it well and love her power. I love that she's all about education and doing well scholastically to advance herself. YOU GO, GIRLFRIEND! Oh, and speaking of, I like her very supportive girl friend a lot, too!

Date: 2007-10-16 03:09 am (UTC)Well, that's good then. I tend to view through a lens of 9/11, since that's the tragic thing that happened to my city, and I hate it when TV or movies use it as a plot point. But they are very different sorts of bad things. And New York isn't in need of help to rebuild.
Re: new girl. Word to everything you said! I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.

It struck me as one of those "they mean well" things, but boy, was it painful - and it didn't have to be. You have to tread lightly when you're dealing with real tragedy, and that, they did not do.

She's actually supposed to be kind of crazy or something. Unstable from what little I've heard. A cautionary tale of what having powers too long can do to you or some crap like that.

I wasn't sure how I felt about the tragedy of New Orleans being just so much window dressing on the plot. It seems kind of insensitive to me.
Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Admittedly, I haven't scoured the episode reactions, but yours is the only one I've seen that mentions this. I live and New Orleans and was frankly appalled by the description of New Orleans and the use of the Katrina footage.

Date: 2007-10-18 02:28 pm (UTC)The more I've thought about the Katrina angle they took on Monica's story, the more unnecessary and appalling it's seemed. I think I'm particularly sensitive to it because, as a New Yorker, I hate when 9/11 is used as a backdrop for storylines. It trivializes very real suffering.
