Supernatural
Feb. 21st, 2008 10:02 pmWow, wow, wow. Now that's an episode, my friends.
Just one thing. Is there ANY way Henricksen could have gotten out of that explosion? I mean, I guess not, right? It just really seemed like they were setting him up to become a hunter, with his I've wasted my life thing, and he's such a great character. One of the most interesting recurring characters they've ever had, and I just...I don't want to see the end of him. How awesome would it be if he showed up later to help them out? What happened at the police station would be like Mary's and Jessica's deaths for the boys, the tragedy that sets his course. I'm just going to hope a soap opera hope that maybe, somehow, something. I don't know. I just don't want him to be dead!
Oh, also when the creepy little kid described the boys as the tall brother and the cute brother, I was all: Hey! Sammy's cute, too. Creepy little kid. *grumbles*
Okay. So. Wait. One last thing. Sam's stone cold sense of expedience is starting to freak me the hell out. He was voting to sacrifice the virgin, and I don't care if maybe there would have been fewer deaths that way as it turned out, that's a hell of thing for Sam to contemplate.
(I'm really glad Sam and Dean didn't end up in the super max.)
All right. Now I think I'm actually done. *g*
P.S. I lied. Tattoos!! I'd seen the picture of that a while ago, and, yeah, *loves*

Re: Sam's willingness to sacrifice the virgin -- Holy FUCK.
Re: tattoos -- HEE. Dean's pained look kills me every time I see it. You *know* Sam had to talk him into that, and he doesn't want to hear even one more word from Dean about it.
God, the feeling of claustrophobia, the desperation, when they were chained up, waiting to be taken to SuperMax... ::shudder:: Thank God that they're out from under (as long as they "stay dead," but oh man, they lost a valuable ally if Henrickson is really dead.

Date: 2008-02-22 02:19 pm (UTC)"One of them's really tall, and the other one's really cute." Hee!!! I did laugh muchly. And yeah, they're both cute, but as much as I thought I'd be a SamGirl back when the show first premiered (having liked JP on Gilmore Girls), I am sooooooo very much a DeanGirl. I lapped up his joked like honey throughout this ep, even more than usual. Maybe because I know it's going to be 2 months before the next time!
Re: sacrificing a virgin. It was certainly interesting for Sam to take the side of "For the Greater Good" - and also for said virgin herself to agree. And Ruby's comments about "that's what you have to do in a war!" made sense of things as well.
If it weren't for the show going through pains to set up Sam's growing coldness, I'm not sure I'd agree with you that his contemplating that sacrifice was so bad in itself. I'm really not sure what I would do, in that situation. (Thank goodness I will never actually have to contemplate killing a virgin... I think... ;)
And let me just say OMG TATTOOS! Oh my god. I made some serious happy noises there.

Date: 2008-02-22 10:48 pm (UTC)After all, he'd already decided he wanted to get out of the FBI and start a new life hunting - and he had nothing and no-one that he would have cared about leaving behind.
That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

Date: 2008-02-23 02:31 am (UTC)Let the potential hunters Sam and Dean help LIVE. I mean, Ron and now Victor?
...and now I'm going to wonder if one of the writers is a Harmione shipper...

Date: 2008-02-27 09:07 pm (UTC)Oh my, yes, that's SO how it happened. *enjoys imagining that scene* Poor Dean! *g*
I've watched this ep SEVERAL times since I posted this, and Sam's little face when Henricksen says they'll never see each other again gets me EVERY TIME.

Date: 2008-02-27 09:09 pm (UTC)Yes, yes! Exactly. *points* What you said.
If Kripke won't write it, I think you totally should.
Hee! Even if I don't, you know someone in fandom will. *loves fandom*

Date: 2008-02-27 09:11 pm (UTC)Yes, yes, I was thinking the same thing. It's already been established that it's not possible to properly ID bodies in such a conflagration. *hopes*

Date: 2008-02-27 09:13 pm (UTC)Seriously, I do have that former soap opera watcher mentality of: until I SEE a corpose, I'll assume the person could always come back from the dead.
I want more Henricksen! I want more Nancy!

Date: 2008-02-27 09:16 pm (UTC)Me too, me too! I mean, he's always been an intriguing character, and then in this ep, he undergoes all this development, his whole world is turned upside down, he has to totally rethink how he's used his life. That should be the beginning of something, not the end. Especially not an anti-climactic end like that.
*hopes to see him again*
