As I may have mentioned once or twice or possibly way too many times, I went on a big reading tear in my first blush of Firefly love, and I promised I'd share the links to stories I'd enjoyed. This list is by no means comprehensive, because it didn't even occur to me to start bookmarking things until somewhat late in the whole process. So I'll be recc'ing the stories that I could find again. *g*

My first post is Mal/Simon, since that's the majority of what I've been reading. I also plan to make another post with other pairings, gen and crossovers.

Five Drinks They Lived To Regret by [livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha, PG-13 to NC-17. This is mostly an ensemble piece, with the last section featuring Mal/Simon, and it's much as you would imagine from the title. There's some funny, some sad, some wacky and some hot.

Blue Willow by [livejournal.com profile] gritkitty, PG. Simon and Mal have to pull a caper together. A caper that involves a teapot and pretending to be a couple having a tiff. It's not shippy, but it is quite amusing.

Untitled story by [livejournal.com profile] raqs, PG. Mal loses Serenity and takes it into his head that it's the end for him, too. Simon begs to differ. I loved the voices in this, and the story seemed very possible.

Five things about Mal that get under Simon's skin by [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan, PG-13. One scene, five things, two incredibly hot kisses. Mmm.

Into The Woods by [livejournal.com profile] thunder_nari, NC-17. An AU in which Mal turns rent boy after the war, and Simon is a customer. There's some interesting stuff about having control and giving it up, plus it's pornalicious.

Ping Diao by [livejournal.com profile] noandwhere, PG-13. Mal hates going to the infirmary, because the smell reminds him. Beautiful and sad.

Remedy by [livejournal.com profile] srichard and [livejournal.com profile] sionnain, NC-17. Mal's grumpy about Inara leaving, and Simon prescribes a treatment. It proves quite efficacious. Not to mention hot!

Expectations by [livejournal.com profile] allyndra, PG-13. Mal and Simon watch and discover and finally give in.

Fruition, Resistance Is Fruitless, and Tramping Out The Vintage Where The Grapes Of Wrath Are Stored by [livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha, PG-R. This is witty and fun, and in the last section of the story, Simon has to pretend to be a companion to rescue Mal, and that's just GUH. One of my all-time favorites.

Going Down Slowly, Or Quickly, Whichever Works by [livejournal.com profile] smearedink, NC-17. The Alliance has a new law, and everybody has to get married! Whee! Another of my favorite stories.

Double-Edged Sword by J.M. Griffin, NC-17. Mal gets hurt during a deal. Simon takes care of him. And then when Mal is well again, takes care of him so more.

None So Blind by BlackEyedGirl, R-ish. Mal is temporarily blinded, and Simon tells him what he likes about him, and eventually Mal returns the favor.

Ornithoptera euphorion by [livejournal.com profile] mclachlan. Mal and Simon dance around each other, and Simon mistakenly believes thoughts can be locked away until he learns better. Beautifully written.

Uninhibited by Juli, NC-17. Since childhood, Simon has unknowingly had a medical device implanted in him to keep him chaste. Now it's out, and Mal is there. Porny good times!

Dominoes by Arachne. Mal's all twisted up over Inara, and Simon is there.

Time To Rise by [livejournal.com profile] alizarin_nyc, PG. Mal runs. Simon catches up to him eventually.

Company Of Strangers by [livejournal.com profile] justblue0162, NC-17. Once upon a time, Mal and Simon had an amazing night together. Then they meet again on Serenity. Mmmm.

Dangerous Cargo by [livejournal.com profile] nestra, NC-17. Mal takes on some new cargo that proves to be almost as troublesome as Simon and River. My favorite Mal/Simon story of them all!

Just Cause by [livejournal.com profile] kelly_girl, NC-17. Mal gets dosed with something during a job, and if he doesn't fuck, he'll die. Simon doesn't want him to die. Hot, hot, hot!

Water in one hand by [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl, PG-13. Terraforming is precise business. This is the story of what happens when it's not done precisely enough.

Hope you enjoy the recs! Also coming soon will be Life on Mars recs.

ETA: I managed to leave off two of my favorites, which I've now added. Yes, I am organizationally challenged. Why do you ask? Also, if you have other Mal/Simon stories to recommend, please feel free to add them in the comments. The more Mal/Simon the merrier, I say!
