Here's what I'm wondering about today

I have the line "kisses on the necks of best friends"--or really, that whole song--stuck in my head. So then I started thinking: Is that song about Patrick? Is that line about Patrick? Pete calls half the world his best friend, and he does a lot of kissing.
Then I started wondering: What songs has Pete written about Patrick? I know there must be some.
--"Best friends
Ex friends til the end
Better off as lovers
And not the other way around"
I tend to think that's about Mikeyway. Although I enjoy thinking of Pete and Patrick as better off as lovers! :)
--"He tastes like you only sweeter"
This was the first FOB song I ever heard and the first video I ever saw, and my eyes bugged out when I heard this line. Later, I read that it referred to the movie "Closer." But still, I like to imagine!

People have written many a fan fic about this song. And for good reason. Do you guys think that's about Patrick? Or Mikeyway? Am I being more tinhatty than you're comfortable with? *g*
And then "What a Catch, Donnie" is obviously about them, which I think they've more or less acknowledged.
I know everyone probably discussed all this back in the day, but I missed it. And I'm mentally challenged when it comes to interpreting lyrics (and poetry for that matter), and I'm interested in what you guys think. Pete and Patrick are just endlessly interesting to me!
(As a random aside, I've been listening to Viva La Cobra pretty constantly. Love!)

and, yeah, patrick said that pete wrote "what a catch" from patrick's point of view and that he couldn't have written a better confessional song about himself.

:)
Re: "What A Catch". I read in some concert report somewhere that when Pete introduced the song he said it was about a best friend who's as good as gold but doesn't know it, and I awwwwww'd all over myself! I love them just ridiculously a lot.
Also, thanks again for the Cobra's music. I'm enjoying it so much!!

and you're the only place that feels like home
just so you know, you'll never know

could very well be about Patrick, given that it's less overtly sexual than most of the other lyrics on that album, and less angry. Also, because that was around the time Pete was pretty hardcore obsessed with Patrick (uh, more than usual, I mean!).
I've also always wondered about the line in "I'm Like a Lawyer" - the The best way to make it through with hearts and wrists intact is to realize two out of three ain't bad. I think Pete's since said (or implied heavily) the song's about falling in love with Ashlee (and falling out of love with Jeanae, which is probably what half of that album is about, ha) but I'm curious as to how the head-on-shoulder gesture in concert started. Is it just staging, or does that particular line have some meaning to Pete where Patrick is concerned?
The two explanations for "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" I've heard and thought were possible were that it's either to/about Alicia and Mikey, or to/about HeyChris. I kind of like the latter more, actually - and it makes a lot of sense, given that the song talks about it being assumed that Pete "only thinks in the form of crunching numbers," only thinking in terms of fame, which is what Chris accused him of when they got on fandom_wank that one time (oh, this fandom - when we make it to f_w it's because PETE WENTZ is flouncing).
Also, though it's less fun, I've always thought GINASFS was about Ashlee - I think the reason it got picked up by fic was because of the "trade baby blues for wide-eyed browns" line, but Ashlee also has blue eyes! And the "I'm supposed to love you line" sounds a lot like Pete's (slightly creepy *g*) rationalization for having stalked her for so long before they dated, ha. Though I also kind of go line-by-line -- like, there are a few single lines in that song I could see as being about Patrick, and the "true blue" reference is interesting because Pete's used that as a 'nickname' for Patrick online a few times. And I'm not sure what it says about Pete that I have absolutely no trouble imagining he might convolute Patrick and his wife in song. *g*
And while I tend to think the Mikeyway thing gets given too much weight on IOH (a lot of those songs are probably about leaving Jeanae!) "Bang the Doldrums" is so about him, as far as I'm concerned. Hell, parts of it are actually lifted from journal entries he made that were pretty transparently about Mikey (or at least, about a boy he'd developed some kind of feelings for). And of course, it was apparently originally called "Summer of Like," which is what Pete called Warped 2005.
