I will put aside for the moment that Matt and Mohinder are really competing their hearts out for the dubious distinction of being declared the two stupidest dads ever. I can talk about something besides Matt and Mohinder. I can! I really can!
--Okay, I lied. One more thing about Matt and Mohinder. Once again it looked as if the angry sex was going to break out at any moment. I do approve of that!
--If I had a son, I'd want him to be just like Micah. He even plays the piano! I adore the piano. Took lessons for years and years, but sadly, I have no musical talent. I awwww'd all over myself during that scene. And, really, during all the other scenes too. Micah helping Monica discover the truth about her powers is way beyond awesome. Also, being a copycat remains an incredibly cool power.
--"I'm not a cargo jet." Hee! I vote Nathan the best part of this episode, with Micah a close second. Stubbly is a good look for Pasdar. Although, really, what isn't it? Well, okay, the beard. I answered my own question. But I do very much approve of the wavy hair. Anyhoo, I might have made a noise when he did the thing with the shotgun. "I'm good." ::dies:: Oh, yes. You really, really are.
--Pasdar and Grunberg have fabulous chemistry. I'm glad we've been getting so many scenes with Matt and Nathan.
--Okay, here, I admit it. Matt's dad totally hustled me, too. I bought into the whole "I'm scared, don't hurt me" routine, and he's a big lug like Matt, so I trusted him, and I really should have known better! He trapped a little girl in her nightmares and wasn't at all sorry about it! Still, he can't be the one doing the killing, can he? The person on Kaito's balcony was much smaller. Although he might have been manipulating Angela when she was attacking herself in jail. I thought it was an invisible person, but maybe it was all a delusion. Who's the big bad, I wonder? Could it be Papa Petrelli? Maybe he's not as dead as we've been led to believe.
--It's the week of hot guys fighting their inner demons! I love this week! Just like the SGA scene, this one really revealed so much about Nathan. Well done, show! It wasn't as hot as the John-on-John fighting, you know, what with the disfigurement. But the fact that Nathan is afraid he doesn't feel anything is interesting. My heart went all lurchy when he thought he'd found Peter again, and then it wasn't. God. I need a REUNION already. I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen until the end of the season.
--I still don't care about Hiro's storyline, but Ando is ADORABLE.
--Peter remains hot, albeit unconvincing as a love interest for anyone other than his brother. He carries around a picture of the two of them together! Eeeee! Also, okay, I know there was a ticket to Montreal, but they do have churches and street signs in French in...you know, France. Maybe do some googling?
--Kristen Bell is Heroes!Veronica, only using her powers for evil instead of good. That last conversation also brought to mind Miss Parker with the "sorry, daddy, it won't happen again," although without Miss Parker's sense of conflict and conscience. I'm DYING to know who her father is.
--Why doesn't Mohinder ever come to my door?????? *curses lack of powers*
--Just guessing from the previews, I'm going to say Mohinder gets even stupider next week.
In conclusion: my two dads need some damned parenting classes! Maybe that's the next thing I should write.

Date: 2007-10-23 02:43 am (UTC)oh, please do! fic fixes everything. well, nearly. and since i agree with you about mohinder's level of stupidity apparently increasing next week, we even need preemptive fixing.
i'm very curious about who "veronica"'s father, is too [did we get a name for her character? i don't remember].

Date: 2007-10-23 02:48 am (UTC)And, yes, Veronica's father! I'm intrigued. I don't think we did get a name for her. And...well, I probably won't ever be able to call her anything but Veronica. *g*

Date: 2007-10-23 02:45 am (UTC)Man, when Nathan has to teach you parenting lessons, you know you're failing big time. "He traumatized your girl." Come on, Matt, he shouldn't need to remind you of that. And HRG so shouldn't need to tell Mohinder "no, your daughter + the company = bad."
>Who's the big bad, I wonder? Could it be Papa Petrelli? Maybe he's not as dead as we've been led to believe. <
I'm so conflicting about that whole thing! Because I thought for sure it was Papa Petrelli, but then Matt's daddy has the picture of Bob. But that was so not him that killed Kaito. (Then again, the early bits of Sylar wasn't Zach either.) But his nightmare powers fit in with Angela's attack! And *flails!* I don't know what to think anymore!
>Ando is ADORABLE.<
He IS. He needs a better storyline like crazy, but he's owning what he's got. He wants spoilers, damnit! <3

Date: 2007-10-23 02:51 am (UTC)Oh my God! Truer words never spoken. I did flail a little when Nathan called Molly "your girl." Actually, I'm going to do it again now. *flail* The domesticity of this show is making me such a SAP!
Re: the bad guy. I don't know what to think, either! They've worked their mojo on me. I'm dying to find out who it is!

. . . there's also the fact that the most famous church in the world was in the background of the painting. And I guess I can forgive Peter for getting no cultural education (I'm sure he daydreamed through his expensive prep school Art History classes), but seriously, the girl is so devoutly Catholic that she paints massive crosses, and she doesn't recognize Notre Dame at all?

Date: 2007-10-23 02:57 am (UTC)Okay, I'll admit I have a hard time telling Chartres from Notre Dame. I'm not good with cathedrals! But I do know enough to think: France. Oh, Peter! Oh, Caitlin!

Date: 2007-10-23 09:19 am (UTC)Ooooh. That would be awesome. And it would go with the whole "all daddies are bad" thing.
Or, in the case of Matt and Mohinder, just incredibly incompetent. And totally in need of those parenting classes.
He carries around a picture of the two of them together!
I wonder if when he looks at that pic in his amnesiac state and just comes to the conclusion that the guy in the picture is his boyfriend. Or maybe that he got gay-married to him in Canada.

Date: 2007-10-23 11:39 pm (UTC)Oh my God, I love you, Cosmic!! That should really, really be a story. And somehow Peter finds Nathan. Or Nathan finds him. And Peter presents him with the photo and his theory of their gay married bliss. And Nathan goes along with it, thinking it'll somehow help Peter recover his memory. *coughs* Yes, it's all completely therapeutic.
I know a million and one stories have been written just like this (okay, probably minus the incest) in a million and one fandoms, but it just never gets old for me. Nope. It never does.

Date: 2007-10-23 09:51 am (UTC)They've just started playing S2 in NZ!
I've watched E1 last night!
What episode number are you guys up to?
Love M3 (although Molly scared me with her freak out to Matt over pizza re the drawings - is she going to turn out to be somewhat psychotic?)
Love Hiro/Ando! Interesting that TK was a gaijin(sp?) Did not see that coming. So. Looks like Hiro is set to become his own hero LOL
And Nathan's scarring when he looked into the mirror - is that for real and he's hiding it somehow (new superpower?) or is it only that that is how he mentally sees himself?
Interesting from a NZ perspective that both high schools Claire has attended has Queen Bitches (conincidentally?) in the cheerleading program. Is that a true portrayl of American high school girls/cheerleaders or a completely false image? Some of these students look like they came off a runway! Is there a 'dress code' to adhere to? Or is that too simply an exaggeration? In contrast, girls at NZ high schools are not allowed makeup or jewellery (except religious icons), and both public and private schools wear uniforms too. From watching the US shows it seems very much that students are polarised into particular pigeonholes (sporty, geek, goth, popular, etc) and the various groups don't mix (or if they do its only to taunt the other group(s)) - how much of that is actually true to life?
Sorry I seem to have diverged OT. Let me conclude by saying I second the other commentary where it is suggested that you write parenting stories for Matt/Mohinder. I'm all for that! :)

Date: 2007-10-23 11:47 pm (UTC)Re: Nathan's scarring. It appears to be a metaphor for his inner demons, feelings of guilt over Peter, etc. Or some people theorize that he's developed Nikki-like powers. But we don't really know yet.
Re: high schools in the U.S. Well, they definitely exaggerate it for television, but the basically dynamics are sadly true to life. Only private schools require uniforms, and even then, unless it's a very strict religious school, girls wear makeup and jewelry. High school is very clique-ish, and the different groups do rarely mix. But I don't think there's quite as much conflict between the groups as is portrayed on television. Students find the group their comfortable with and stick with it. It's really interesting to me to hear that it's such a different experience in New Zealand.

Date: 2007-10-23 01:23 pm (UTC)I rolled my eyes a lot (especially at Mohinder this week, last week it was Matt so at least they're trading off). That said, if my son were sick/dying and I knew that the only possible cure lay in taking him to a dangerous person who might later use him against me... I'd do it. At least he'd be alive to be used against me in the future. The problem really is that I didn't buy the way the show tried to make it Mohinder's only choice. He didn't wait to see if Matt could stop his father, he didn't try a regular hospital, etc - all options better than crazy Company guy.
Once again it looked as if the angry sex was going to break out at any moment
Yeah, but I think at this point we've seen the tense relationship that can come with raising a special needs child when you have 2 parents with differing ideas on what to do, I really want to see some sweetness. And how they became a family in the first place.
Matt's dad totally hustled me, too.
Me too! He's nasty. Poor Molly caught up in a nightmare made by him and he doesn't care, even about his own son. Although I am interested in what his powers are exactly. Can he influence people (like maybe make Angela Petrelli attack herself...) too? Will Matt become a mind Jedi also?
Still, he can't be the one doing the killing, can he?
I think he can be if he can influence people. See, I think Nathan put the picture of Kaito into the paper (he bumped into Ando in the scene right before they found the picture) and I think a flying man could push someone off a roof and get away too. So I've been thinking Nathan had turned bad, but now I'm thinking that Parkman Sr can make people do things and Nathan isn't have alcoholic blackouts like everyone thinks, he has been under the mind whammy of Parkman Sr.
I do think Petrelli Sr is alive though. His face wouldn't be conveniently turned away otherwise. I have a guess as to who he is, but it's based on a theory and a tiny spoiler I read somewhere that supports that theory, so I don't want to put it here.
I'm DYING to know who her father is.
My theory is Papa Petrelli, and he is... Well, I'll not say here because it goes back to the above theory that has a tiny spoiler at it's base (although my theory evolved before the spoiler). It's part of my review though, so if you're interested you can read it there (sans spoiler).

Date: 2007-10-26 11:52 pm (UTC)Yes, oh, yes!!! I LOVE your theory. It makes all kind of sense. I hope the show itself turns out to be that cool!
I usually go totally spoiler free, but I'm intrigued to hear your theory about Papa Petrelli. I was thinking he might actually be Takezo Kensei, either very long-lived because he can regenerate or with some time travel help from Hiro. I keep thinking that story thread must relate to the rest of what's going on somehow, or they wouldn't spend so much time on it.
So, what's your theory?
no subject
Date: 2007-10-27 11:09 am (UTC)Yeah, my theory is pretty much that Kensei is Papa Petrelli - but that through the last 1000 years or so he's also the ancestor of all the Heroes. And that he's been manipulating people with powers. If he is Papa Petrelli, we know that that he was part of the group of 12 people with powers and ideas of world domination/control of destiny for people with powers. This generation has as a direct offshoot of that generation's efforts the Company - which is very directly controlling people with power via kidnapping and - possibly - this virus.
I think Kensei is going to be the really Big Bad for this season, that over the centuries he's used what Hiro taught him to do evil things for personal gain, and that he views his "offspring" as either potential allies or enemies, but wants to control their destiny/life. I think only someone who's lived so long could have such a far sighted view of breeding powered people (as Linderman suggested they did with Nikki and DL), of letting New York get blown up as a way to bring powered people to power, a tagging system for mutants, and (with this virus) a control mechanism to keep them in check - or lose their powers and die. It's too... grand a pattern for one generation of people to think up.
So that's my theory. And the only info I have spoiler-wise to back it up is that Kensei is still alive at the present time, but who/how/what he's up to is all unknown to me.
I too think it will be very very cool if Hiro's storyline suddenly ties into everything else - and he has to realize his boyhood hero who he helped become heroic, has turned so bad - and he must help kill him. Of course, if Hiro somehow runs off with the Princess Yaeko, maybe he's the one who turns Kensei bad (if my theory is correct).
Anyway, that's my theory. What do you think?

Date: 2007-10-24 01:44 am (UTC)I really LoL with your entry. but the sad thing is I have classes on Mondays(Canada) so there are no Heroes for me. So I am relying on spoilers and youtube. 8(. I didn't see this one but reading made my day!
I was wring a comment before and it just struck me that there are three M's as Matt, Mohinder and Molly. Ha!
"the angry sex" I hope someone can write something about it.
and the picture with Nathan and Peter: I think we can make a story form there!
anyway! HOPE TO SEE THIS EPOSODE SOMEWHERE! SOON!

Date: 2007-10-27 12:45 am (UTC)I read that that's actually the actor playing too. He already was a gifted pianist before he got into acting.
Still, he can't be the one doing the killing, can he? The person on Kaito's balcony was much smaller.
Perhaps he can make people see whatever he wants them to see like that chameleon woman Sylar killed.
He carries around a picture of the two of them together!
It's two guys in tuxes with their arms around each other. I was shocked neither Peter or the woman wondered if it was a wedding photo, and that was Peter's spouse! Especially with the Montreal connection where the marriage would be legal.
