Cobra Starship and me

So I thought I should report back to the Cobra Starship enablers on my flist and let you know that I've listened to Viva La Cobra! every day on the way to work for, like, two weeks now. And as I'm typing this, I have "One Day Robots Will Cry" playing in my head. (I totally didn't realize that's where the title for that Lovebot!Patrick story came from, btw.) And I can't wait for their new album. And I was actually entertaining the notion of reading some Gabe/Bill last night, but I was too sleepy and went to bed instead. But I still might read some later. And
linzeestyle has totally convinced me that G.a.b.e. is a good guy, and it makes me sad now when he's the creepy villain in bandom stories!
Oy.
In other news, I still can't find Panic at the Disco remotely interesting. Sorry! I know that's totally sacrilege. And I really would like to have them be characters in my Pete/Patrick Pride & Prejudice AU, so I'm trying to get over my disinterest. I used to not find Cobra Starship interesting either, so it could happen.

Date: 2009-04-23 06:18 pm (UTC)It makes me sad that Gabe's always the bad guy or the evil slut, when basically he's all kinds of awesome.
Hmm, Panic grows on you slowly. I'm actually only interested in the bandom version, preferably with no Ryan anwhere, their music does nothing for me.
Although Spencer Smith is made of absolue win ;)

...I mean, seriously.

Date: 2009-04-23 07:11 pm (UTC)But thank you for the link! I will definitely check it out. I think another thing that gets in my way is that I'm really an OTP gal. I've had one in every fandom I've ever been, and it's just a big free-for-all with Panic. If I had a Panic OTP, it might make a difference.

Date: 2009-04-23 07:06 pm (UTC)It's kind of sad on one hand, because right now Panic and Cab are the only two bands really being written (Peterick has dried up entirely :() and so not being into them means there's really no fic to read. On the other hand, for that very reason I am going to CLING TO YOU and demand you don't try too hard to go play in Panic, because we need you HERE. :(
Also, Gabe is WONDERFUL. \o/ I am so glad you have fallen in love with Cobra!

Date: 2009-04-23 07:18 pm (UTC)Plus, no one will ever have a better story of how they met than Pete and Patrick. They had me at "argyle"!
So...yeah. You don't have worry about my giving up Pete and Patrick for Panic. I just want to learn a little more about them, so I can make my Pete/Patrick Pride and Prejudice thing work. That's my only motivation.

Date: 2009-04-23 07:41 pm (UTC)It's definitely worth finding out a bit more about them! They're great to add into fic -- I've never tried putting them together in pairings, but I love adding Ryan into fic, especially since he is so close to Pete that it makes sense (like Travis and Gabe) to include him in stories that take place over an extended amount of time. If you need any help I can probably picspam you and provide directions to go to -- like I said, I am not in that corner of fandom, but I know enough about them to pretend. *G*

Date: 2009-04-23 07:23 pm (UTC)As for Panic, I admit I am biased because I adore them, so if you want any recs (fic, media, or otherwise), let me know and I'll hook you up!

Date: 2009-04-23 09:45 pm (UTC)As for Panic, I'd love to read some fic where I get a sense of the fandom characterizations of the four of them. Right now, they don't really have personalities for me. Also, I have no idea who to ship. And that's hard for an OTP-gal like myself!

Date: 2009-04-23 10:56 pm (UTC)I'll definitely put together some recs for you, then! I am a big OTP-er as well, and to be honest, my Panic!OTP is GSF (with a preference for Jon/Spencer otherwise). They kind of ship themselves, which makes it easy. :D

Date: 2009-04-23 08:27 pm (UTC)Well, as long as you love Gerard. *eyeballs* Otherwise I might have to disown you, because \o/Gerard\o/. :D

Date: 2009-04-23 09:47 pm (UTC)I can't imagine not loving Gerard. Actually, I really like everybody in My Chem, and also I like the music a lot.

Date: 2009-04-24 12:00 am (UTC)I rarely have an OTP, but bandom is the first fandom I've participated in where I've experienced having an OTC: Ryan Ross in Panic and Mikey Way in My Chem. If a story doesn't feature one or both of them, I'm probably not going to enjoy it.

Date: 2009-04-24 12:57 am (UTC)Panic..., well, I just don't care. I have nothing really *against* them, and I do think that Spencer rocks, with his dry wit. But I honestly don't understand why the vast majority of Bandom fanfic seems to revolve around them. I really don't. I just find it puzzling. But to each their own.
I'm still loving my Pete 'n' Patrick, (*love* my Patrick) with a side order of MCR, who are just smishable and likeable as all get out. (I still love Gerard going off on a feminist rant during a concert, and telling all the young girls in the audience that if some scuzzy rock guy invites you back stage, and tells you to show him your tits, then tell him to Fuck right off, or something like it. They're just absolute originals. *g*)
You keep on rocking out, girl. It does a body good. :)
