So I thought I should report back to the Cobra Starship enablers on my flist and let you know that I've listened to Viva La Cobra! every day on the way to work for, like, two weeks now. And as I'm typing this, I have "One Day Robots Will Cry" playing in my head. (I totally didn't realize that's where the title for that Lovebot!Patrick story came from, btw.) And I can't wait for their new album. And I was actually entertaining the notion of reading some Gabe/Bill last night, but I was too sleepy and went to bed instead. But I still might read some later. And [livejournal.com profile] linzeestyle has totally convinced me that G.a.b.e. is a good guy, and it makes me sad now when he's the creepy villain in bandom stories!

Oy.

In other news, I still can't find Panic at the Disco remotely interesting. Sorry! I know that's totally sacrilege. And I really would like to have them be characters in my Pete/Patrick Pride & Prejudice AU, so I'm trying to get over my disinterest. I used to not find Cobra Starship interesting either, so it could happen.

Yay for Cobra love :D
It makes me sad that Gabe's always the bad guy or the evil slut, when basically he's all kinds of awesome.

Hmm, Panic grows on you slowly. I'm actually only interested in the bandom version, preferably with no Ryan anwhere, their music does nothing for me.
Although Spencer Smith is made of absolue win ;)

I'll have to read some Panic fanfic and maybe that will make them more interesting. It's definitely an acquired taste situation for me. You know, versus Pete and Patrick who had me at "argyle." :)

But yay Gabe!

Panic (collectively) is only a little interesting at their best, tbh. But Gabe is awesome. And crazy. I am glad you have been converted to the cult of CS. Please procede to the basement.

Hee! I'll admit I'm still a little nervous about the basement...

Panic become more interesting the more you realise how much they flirt.

Hmm. Well, I do like flirtation. Maybe I just need to pay more attention.

The stupid twelve-year-old courting we've been seeing since they got twitters is ridiculous.

The other day Spencer twittered "@brendonurie you put the ass in Jurassic Park"

...I mean, seriously.

I hope you have Panic enablers on your flist! I'd love to see them in your fic. And Pete loves them! :D?

I know! Pete loves them. I'm always reminding myself of that when they fill me with the big yawn. But then this little voice in my head always pipes up: "Yeah, and Pete also drinks his own urine." So. You know. Peter. *g*

But thank you for the link! I will definitely check it out. I think another thing that gets in my way is that I'm really an OTP gal. I've had one in every fandom I've ever been, and it's just a big free-for-all with Panic. If I had a Panic OTP, it might make a difference.

Jesus cristos, Evil has her alarm set to blast "The City Is At War" at the buttcrack of dawn every morning. So I'm always startled out of bed with "PLAYTIME for the young and rich. Ignoremeifyouseeme 'cause I just don't give a shit!" through the wall.

She sometimes doesn't turn it off until "papapapapaparazi".

I'm sorry. I just couldn't help laughing at this. Although I know it must be so very, very unfunny to experience!!

(The papapapapaparazi would be especially unhappy to wake up to, although I do like listening to it on the subway.)

It's okay - I like Panic's music alright but I've never been able to get into them fannishly. I'm not even sure why - their personalities really don't do anything for me, and I think I don't like the 'mix and match' aspect of it all? I like having a central OTP! And Spencer Smith makes me uncomfortable sexually. I understand many, many characters and fans' attraction to them, but I do not understand Spencer Smith (I am sorry fandom! :(). I do however really like Pete/Ryan!

It's kind of sad on one hand, because right now Panic and Cab are the only two bands really being written (Peterick has dried up entirely :() and so not being into them means there's really no fic to read. On the other hand, for that very reason I am going to CLING TO YOU and demand you don't try too hard to go play in Panic, because we need you HERE. :(

Also, Gabe is WONDERFUL. \o/ I am so glad you have fallen in love with Cobra!

I really haven't been able to get into Panic's music, and after my Cobra realization, I went back and listened to it again, in case I'd been wrong about that, too. Also, here's a confession for you, I can't really tell the band members apart. I know they don't look that much alike, but they all blend together for me. And then too, as an OTP-loving girl, I just find it confusing that there's every permutation of pairing with them.

Plus, no one will ever have a better story of how they met than Pete and Patrick. They had me at "argyle"!

So...yeah. You don't have worry about my giving up Pete and Patrick for Panic. I just want to learn a little more about them, so I can make my Pete/Patrick Pride and Prejudice thing work. That's my only motivation.

Haha to be fair, I think Ryan and Pete might *actually* have Pete and Patrick beat. Have you read much about their relationship? It tows the line between "creepy" and "omg sweet" and I think that's why I like them.

It's definitely worth finding out a bit more about them! They're great to add into fic -- I've never tried putting them together in pairings, but I love adding Ryan into fic, especially since he is so close to Pete that it makes sense (like Travis and Gabe) to include him in stories that take place over an extended amount of time. If you need any help I can probably picspam you and provide directions to go to -- like I said, I am not in that corner of fandom, but I know enough about them to pretend. *G*

Ugh, Gaaaabe! ♥ He is so awesome, seriously. And such a genuinely nice guy that it makes me sadface when people call him creepy. Have you checked out cobracam.tv (http://cobracam.tv/)? Full of adorableness. Also, if you ever get the opportunity, Cobras are a great live band.

As for Panic, I admit I am biased because I adore them, so if you want any recs (fic, media, or otherwise), let me know and I'll hook you up!

Thanks to the link for cobracam.tv! I can't wait to check it out. I'm all for the Cobra adorableness!

As for Panic, I'd love to read some fic where I get a sense of the fandom characterizations of the four of them. Right now, they don't really have personalities for me. Also, I have no idea who to ship. And that's hard for an OTP-gal like myself!

For more Cobra adorableness, I'd also recommend the Guy Ripley episodes of TAITV. Here's (http://community.livejournal.com/bandom_recs/50696.html) a guide to all of them through last August. Guy also interviewed FOB on the set of "I Don't Care", which you can see here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNmnpRMnl7o)!

I'll definitely put together some recs for you, then! I am a big OTP-er as well, and to be honest, my Panic!OTP is GSF (with a preference for Jon/Spencer otherwise). They kind of ship themselves, which makes it easy. :D

I first started loving Panic as a result of [livejournal.com profile] norah's recs. (She also has recs for bandom crossovers.)

I rarely have an OTP, but bandom is the first fandom I've participated in where I've experienced having an OTC: Ryan Ross in Panic and Mikey Way in My Chem. If a story doesn't feature one or both of them, I'm probably not going to enjoy it.

Now, see, I'm right there with you. I actually did buy "Viva La Cobra", and think that it's fun, and dancy. It's enjoyable, but I can easily walk away. It helps that I think that the Cobra gang is having a hella lotta fun (unlike many of the angsty un-washed "My life is so hard..." bands out there),so there's that.

Panic..., well, I just don't care. I have nothing really *against* them, and I do think that Spencer rocks, with his dry wit. But I honestly don't understand why the vast majority of Bandom fanfic seems to revolve around them. I really don't. I just find it puzzling. But to each their own.

I'm still loving my Pete 'n' Patrick, (*love* my Patrick) with a side order of MCR, who are just smishable and likeable as all get out. (I still love Gerard going off on a feminist rant during a concert, and telling all the young girls in the audience that if some scuzzy rock guy invites you back stage, and tells you to show him your tits, then tell him to Fuck right off, or something like it. They're just absolute originals. *g*)

You keep on rocking out, girl. It does a body good. :)
