Okay, first Bones...
I was so delighted at the end of a long day when I remembered that this was premiere night, and it didn't let me down! I was kind of iffy about this show for a good half of the first season, but I like David Boreanaz, and it's an interesting idea, and I always enjoy solve-the-case style stories, so I stuck with it. In the last third of the season, it really started to hit its stride, and it started off with a bang in season two.
The relationship between Booth and Brennan has really gelled, the intimacy, the trust, the irritation. It's kind of like McKay and Sheppard in that regard. It just really works for me!
Love the team dynamic. Hodgepodge and Zacaroni, indeed! Hee!
The one thing I was concerned about was the introduction of the new boss. My mind instantly went to Crossing Jordan, when they brought on Dr. Duchamps just to make her the villianous foil for all the other characters. God, that was so it made me want to gouge my eyes out. But this was cool! Cam is totally kick-ass. Another strong, smart woman on the show. That makes three! Dude, that's like a record or something. I liked that Brennan wasn't immediately antagonistic, that she took her time and judged Cam the way she would any situation, coolly, logically. I liked that they didn't make them instant enemies, that tired old cliche about women not being able to get along with each other. The backstory with Booth...meh. It didn't really do anything for me. I didn't have anything against it particularly, but it didn't really seem to add.
I am going to miss Dr. Goodman, though. I loved his dry sense of humor. And that man just has a great voice.
Also, I do have to say that I thought the resolution of the plot was a little lame. A slick operator like that private detective? It's hard for me to see him confessing that easily. They've had more intriguing storylines, I think.
Still, all in all...big yay!

Date: 2006-08-31 02:29 am (UTC)Booth and Bren are SO the old married couple. A "car fight" on the way to a scene... SO fun.
favorite line from the premiere, Booth talking to Cam re: Bones not confronting Cam yet about being passed over for the position. "You're just physical remains (or something to that effect) and she hasn't made up her mind yet."
re: resolution - i agree, not one of their more compelling endings, but then i've only seen 3 eps. It was like the storyline was secondary to the character introductions and the sub-plot re: Bones' parents. BUT... it wasn't bad.
I can't wait to see where they go next.

Date: 2006-08-31 03:44 am (UTC)Ah, Zack. He's a cute one.
I don't know what it is about characters caring for one another and yet totally bickering that's just so damned charming, but it really, really is! :)

Date: 2006-08-31 03:59 am (UTC)They must be planning to have him back at least every once in a while, though I suppose it's always possible that the writers just totally dropped the ball. It would be nice if they could hire another non-white actor without replacing the one they already have, too!

Date: 2006-08-31 01:34 pm (UTC)I really loved the scene when Camilla assumed that Bones hadn't talked to her about the Job because Bones was intimidated. I *laughed right along with Booth* and was like "Boo, I like you already. You're very smart and sassy. But if you actually think Temperance Brennan intimidates, then you've not done your homework." And then Booth *basically said that out loud*. It was so awesome. Also awesome was the way Camilla bitchslapped that annoying U.S. Attorney at the end of the episode, too.
am going to miss Dr. Goodman, though. I loved his dry sense of humor. And that man just has a great voice.
I don't think Goodman's gone for good, though. They specifically had Bones note that he appointed Camilla and then took "a two-month sabbatical". That sounds to me like the actor had some other committment (with that voice, I wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of stage work), but will return later in the season.
