Rodney's kid needs a name!

Peoples reading the Bric-a-Brac Kid verse: Rodney's baby needs naming. John and Rodney have already agreed that her middle name will be Sheppard and her last name McKay since, as Rodney likes to remind John, he did all the hard work.
But they can't come to any kind of agreement on the first name, so they need your help!

Date: 2007-04-02 01:20 am (UTC)That said, I do think Teyla's choice is wonderful, because Hope is the perfect name for the first child and also because it's Teyla.
Okay, I've talked myself into "Hope." I'll go back and click on it. Hope!

Date: 2007-04-02 01:38 am (UTC)Olivia is one of my favorite names too, and I think if the baby's name was Meredith that would be funny and kind of work, but I also like her being the daughter of warriors. Uh. Yeah. I'm glad I made a poll!

The other names make sense too - I just don't like them as much. I gave up on being rational about names a long time ago.

Date: 2007-04-02 07:15 am (UTC)I'll therefore suggest Elanor ("sun star"), a Middle-Earth flower, because they live somewhere that's not really our Earth as we know it (although it's life, Jim) and it's a fascinating new galaxy and they're geeks and there are warriors and bad guys with bad teeth.
It's a golden colour (& young Hewlett = young Rodney was blond!! Eee!) and shaped like a star (& there are stargates and suns everywhere and they flow spaceships and one father's an astrophysicist and the other a pilot!!).
It's also a beautiful name, easy to say in many languages (and Atlantis is an international city), and a symbol of hope & renewal since it was the name of Sam Gamgee's first child.

Date: 2007-04-02 04:45 pm (UTC)I've got a thing about people ending up with unfortunate initials so I typed HSM in the Wikipedia search and this is one of the things it came up with:
The Hafner-Sarnak-McCurley constant - a mathematical constant representing the probability that two randomly chosen matrix determinants will be relatively prime.
I guess that sealed it for me (although is the prime thing canon or fanon, I can't remember?)
By the way, if you do the same for MSM some odd things come up involving men, sex and skirts (although not perhaps all at the same time!).

Will we get a scene of them finding out the sex, and see John's reaction too?

Date: 2007-04-04 04:55 pm (UTC)Alisia, Amelia, Emma, Dakota, McKenzie, Abby, Kylie, Kaylie, Jayden or Kayden
As every one of those names seems to currently be on the top ten baby name list in America right now. Abby is actually my real name and wasn't popular at all when I was growing up, but the past decade or so every parent in America names their dog, cat and kid Abby.
