President Obama! Best damned night of my life!

Just walked home from an election party at a local bar that I went to with some fangirl friends, and I was going to take a car, but I couldn't get one, and I'M SO GLAD! They are literally dancing in the streets in Brooklyn, and I got to be a part of that. And I got to spend election night with a big crowd of people who were all hoping for the same thing, cheering their lungs out. And I was so thrilled that my home state of Virginia voted for Obama. And we won, we won, we won, we won, we won!!!!!

I know the hard work is just beginning, but for now, I want to savor this moment.

It is truly a historic moment.

I was talking to many of my colleagues this morning who (also as I) said they didn't quite believe that this was possible, in spite of all the poll predictions.

You should have seen us as we were watching the election results. We kept being afraid to say that it looked like Obama was going to win, you know, even when it was pretty clear that Obama was going to win. We were just so afraid to hope. Afraid to jinx it.

But it happened, Anita. It really happened!
